Every one of these started as somebody's photo.
All of them are acrylic on stretched canvas, painted by hand in Medford, Oregon. Hit the button on any painting to swap in the original photo and see what Patt was working from.

Billy, mid-snack
11" × 14"A tabby caught mid-lick on a warm gold background. The photo was ridiculous and I wanted to keep it that way.

Milo, all grin
11" × 14"A black lab mix looking straight up, mouth open, thrilled about something. I left the grey around his muzzle exactly as it is. He has earned it.

Blackberry
10" × 8"Black cats are the hardest ones to paint, because all the detail is in the highlights. I put a soft lilac behind her so her shape doesn't disappear.

Jelly
10" × 8"A cream British Shorthair with pale green eyes. Painted in thin layers so you can still see the weave of the canvas through her fur.

Taeyoung, looking up
10" × 8"Ginger and white, chin up, looking very pleased with himself. The blue behind him keeps all that warm cream from going flat.
